Anti-Fungal Powder
Anti-Fungal Powder
One in every five people will be infected with fungus at some time in their life. Fungi are molds and yeasts that can live in the top layer of the skin and nails. Nail fungus is a common ailment, accounting for nearly half of all nail disorders. This fungal infection can affect the fingernails and toenails and can become quite unsightly and painful. Fungal growth at the nail begins as a light colored spot under the tip of the nail. As the fungus grows, it will continue to spread until the entire nail becomes thick and yellow with crumbling edges. If no treatment is given to destroy the fungus, the condition will worsen and eventually the nail will have a distorted shape, may become green, brown, or black, and begin to emit a foul odor. Eventually the nail will fall off, a painful condition which also makes the finger or toe even more vulnerable to greater infection.
There are many treatments available to eradicate the fungus that causes this unpleasant condition. Because fungus lives and thrives in moist environments, one treatment option is to use a natural mixture of powders that both dry the skin affected by the fungus and combat the infection. A great herbal powder to fight general fungal infections can be made with a combination of all natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial ingredients, beginning with a clay powder base. This substance naturally absorbs moisture and provides a beneficial coating on the toes or fingers. Added to the clay is pau d'arco bark powder. This herb has been used for hundreds of years in its native South America. Indigenous groups in Argentina and Paraguay have long known of its medicinal value and its ability to fight infections such as ringworm and yeast infections. This antibacterial herb was reportedly used extensively by the Incas to fight a number of health problems and has been proven effective for internal problems such as fever, dysentery and intestinal problems. In its native countries, it was also widely respected for its use as an anti-inflammatory. Not only has this herb been used to effectively combat parasites and candida, it has also shown great ability to destroy many different types of fungus.
In addition to the clay and pau d'arco powder, black walnut, also known as the English walnut is used. The black walnut has been used for hundreds of years to treat skin disorders such as eczema, infections and rashes. It has also proven effective for internal problems such as fever, diarrhea and asthma. It is a source of vitamin C and alkaloids. The hulls of the black walnut contain quinone and tannis compounds. These substances are what give the herb the ability to fight infections, parasites, and fungus. Not only does this herb oxygenate the blood and balance sugar levels, it also used to combat parasites, candida and fungus.
The final and perhaps most effective addition to this powder is garlic. Using garlic is an inexpensive way to fight even the most persistent cases of nail fungus. Its ability to both combat infection and eliminate the fungus makes it a natural choice and one that is easy to attain and use. Garlic powder should be added to this dry mixture to combat many types of fungus.
For best results mix one part each of clay, black walnut powder, pau d'arco powder and garlic powder. After cleaning the area affected with fungus using a gentle soap, apply a light dusting of the powder over all infected areas. Although this mixture may not produce the most pleasant of odors, its ability to keep the skin and nails dry, prevent the spread of the fungus, alleviate the symptoms of the infection, and destroy the root of the problem, will surely outweigh its unpleasant smell. Once the fungus has been cured the area appears healthy, it is vital to take steps to ensure that the fungus does not return. Preventing any ailment is always much easier than curing it and the best way to maintain good health and an immune system that can successfully fight off potentially harmful infections, such as nail fungus, is to give your body the nutrients it needs to function properly.
If you typically have facials, manicures or pedicures done at a salon, be sure that it is a reputable one that understands the importance of sterilizing all equipment. It also may be necessary to discontinue using nail polish or artificial nails as they can trap moisture under the polish and encourage the growth of fungus. Keeping nails clean and trimmed is important because fungus can make a home under the nail and spread to other nails, due to its contagious nature. If you are suffering from a fungal infection or yeast, try this powder for great results.
